One of the highlights of last years musicscape was Com Truise’s Galactic Melt . On the tails of that success and as a consequence of our demand for more, Ghostly International just released In Decay providing us with the framework of Com Truise’s evolving soundscapes that colluded to create the sound we now know and love. Each of the album’s 13 tracks date from before Haley’s 2010 Cyanide SistersEP and regardless of the fact that these are works taken from Com’s archives, this is nothing short of a great album and addition to Com Truise’s gallery of great works and releases.
There is just no way of doing a Breaking Out feature with Nueva Forma because there is just so much going on that yesterday is already old news!
First and foremost, Nueva Forma released the 21st instalment of the Listening pleasures podcasts. Yet again, it amazes, subtracts and adds all that a podcast could ever need and making this one of the most consistent, groundbreaking music podcasts out there in the great seaworthy internet. The episode was lovingly curated by Wolfe+585 who took the reigns and you should check it out here.
As if that was not enough, one of my favorite Nueva Forma luminaries released a new track: IG88‘s Between Vivid and Exhale.
Besides all these goodies, it sucks to be poor because with the right means or a borrowed jet, I would have made it to Priceless Fest were Masmod, Miori andRecue played..
Here is the teaser:
…and here are the highlights:
No Nueva forma post could be completed without me whining about Miori so I’ll keep it simple and dignified by providing his soundcloud page once again and a beautiful track from his previous release I Have No Memory Of This Place. Needless to say that his new album can’t come out fast enough.
As I finish editing this post something else may have happened over at Nueva Forma so make sure you check out their web site and facebook!
Ready for Olympic glory, Justice just released a mind blowing new video for their latest single off of their Audio, Video, Disco release from 2011. The vid was directed by the the young Spanish collective Canada for Partizan Productions also responsible for these oeuvres.
Check it out!
The band are due to headline Berlin’s Melt Festival on July 13 – 15 alongside Bloc Party and Two Door Cinema Club.
Another day another internet find hailing from Canada’s chilled out wavy plains. From the great wide North beyond comes Boxes of Wolves, AKA Gabriel Akinrinmade, with a new single Off the ‘Illusions’ EP (out in July) and a great discography perfect for summery navel gazing and sound induced time travel.
Have a listen!
….and chek out Boxes of wolveshere and here as well as here.
This is only a catching up feature due to my overly busy, pointless life and general aloofness. IG88, AKA Branden Clarke one of Nueva Foma‘s new inductees released his label debut and to no one’s fault but my own, I failed to talk about it on Cultbreak. After I flailed myself for several hours I finally listened to the album from top to bottom and found, as expected, a marvel of breaking melodious vocals, upbeats, downbeats, joy, sadness and memory. It is not often that a record tells a story.
Have a listen:
IG88 is yet another great addition to the Nueva Forma catalog; a label that insists on not disappointing those of us looking for great new music.
The Australian electropop band is back with a new album to be released on July 6th. Idea Of Happiness is the name of the latest studio work and also of the latest single which you can watch bellow in a video directed by Andreas Nilsson the guy who gave us the latest videos from Miike Snow and the Jean Noel saga:
From Denmark comes the 19 year old wonder kid that’s changing the face of modern Pop following the footsteps of James Blake and others with the same inventive and fresh take on indie-electronic music that sometimes feels a bit experimental.
The debut album Sunken Ships, which was recorded over the last two years in Aarhus, Asbjørn’s home town, was released last month and immediately started collecting very positive reviews. The first single from the album The Criminal, came out a while ago and bellow you can watch the video for it directed by Mads Fridolin:
Iwona Skwarek and Bartosz Szczęsn from Poland are the duo behind this electro-indie-pop project who’s first EP Fail was launched last year.
This year they moved to the Portuguese Label Discotexas relaunching them-selfs into the scene with their new single which has already collected great enthusiasm among the genre fans. So take a look at the video for Stars directed by Balbina Bruszewska & Katarzyna Baraniewicz:
DiscoRazor once again put their mind to the beats and broke out an outstanding remix of Shook‘s Picture moment. Already a great song, we now have it slathered into a slow funk reminiscent of what we wish AIR could still produce.
The Irony of all things is that shook is the master re-mixer of all things that make one’s ass groove.
Check it out:
..and check out Shook here.
and more DiscoRazor here.
The debut single from Swedish performer Zhala, that you might recognized from being a supporting singer for Lykke Li, couldn’t have been better received throughout the blogosphere last week. And honestly it has all the merit as this is one of the best singles to have came out this year so far.
Slippin Around is an incredible mix of electro, pop and indie vibes that steadily build into a tribal and dark frenzying making this a memorable track and leaving us impatiently waiting for news on a debut EP. Check-out the equally amazing video directed by Makode Linde:
