Short-Films: The Burn Units – Ride / Alive

by BerNs

Burn Energy Drink is a high sugar, high caffeine content energy drink with a citrus flavor that comes in a 8.3 (250 ml) or 16.9 oz (500 ml) can. The drink is distributed in several countries by The Coca-Cola Company and the brand is hugely involved with extreme sports like skate, skiing and snowboarding and sponsors a number of events across the world but mainly in Europe and they also have several snowboarding teams across Europe. So naturally they’ve used those resources to create short-films involving their athletes and their brand resulting in a few artistic videos that have been coming out since last year from which i’m going to feature a couple.

The first one to come out was my favorite and its called Ride. Directed by Garth Davis and set on advertising agency Publicis Mojo, Sydney, Australia, the film was shot in Mexico City and features Steve Berra along with mexican skaters, Jesus Gonzalez, Eder Martinez, Mario Saenz, Angel Santiago and American Luis Tolentino. The film shows the skaters riding their boards across the city and lighting on fire as they go, bursting out the energy trapped inside their bodys. Its a seriously good, amazingly shot and brilliantly executed film! Unfortunately the Vimeo link (which had the most quality) is now private and we’re unable to display it here so we are featuring the Youtube link:

Alive its a more recent work released at the beginning of this year and features Austrian snowboarder Gigi Rüf, Norwegian Ståle Sandbech and French Arthur Longo in a film shot in Vorarlberg, Austria and directed by Per-Hampus Stålhandske. The concept is similar to the first but at the same time it has a completely different feel to it, nonetheless its also a brilliant video:
